ABOUT US
This website is run by The Friends of the Cedar Key Airport, an unincorporated association with a love and appreciation for the George T. Lewis Airport (KCDK) in Cedar Key, FL. Founded in March 2011 in response to discussions about closing the airfield, its members advocated not only for it to remain open to the public but increase its operational safety and integrity. This was achieved by conducting surveys of visiting pilots over several years which resulted in fencing, resurfacing, new runway lighting, and more. Donations by members of the Friends of the Cedar Key Airport funded a port-a-potty on the field for a year which was later taken on by the county. Today the association continues visitor surveying, provides operational tips and support for the airport, and actively acts as a liaison between aviators, locals, the City of Cedar Key, & Levy County. |
