Please come visit Cedar Key! Most all of the restaurants and bars on Dock Street and downtown are back open after Hurricane Hermine and would love your business. The runway is clear and in great condition, both windsocks have been replaced, tie down ropes are good, and lights are working. Sections of the security fencing are still down, which is the only item left unrepaired, but does not impact aircraft operations in any way. (See images below.) The road from the airport into town has been completely repaved and the bridge is safe and sound. Not to mention the amazingly warm and wonderful weather!
If you have flown into the Cedar Key Airport (KCDK) at any time in 2016 we urge you to complete our online survey. The surveys we collected from pilots like you in 2012 is the reason why the airport is open today and gets attention from Levy County for quick repairs. Whether you came from far away or close to home, just did a stop-and-go for flight training or stayed for a week, visited back in January or just last weekend - all information is extremely valuable to the continued operation for the Cedar Key Airport. We have just over 50 responses so far this year and would love to collect whatever else we could before we close the survey before 01 January 2017. Click here to take the survey and read more about how the Friends of the Cedar Key Airport use the survey information. Happy Skies & Holidays from the Friends of the Cedar Key Airport! |
